Introduction

Teaching is my passion.

I am Katalin Patocskai, an actor, teacher, and last but not least, a mother. I earned my acting degree in Kaposvár, and after several years in theatre and film, I chose teaching alongside motherhood.

In 2013, I began leading drama and acting classes at Budavári Primary School, which over the years expanded into summer camps and sessions for an ever-growing range of age groups.

Today, I lead groups for ages 6 to 99+, conduct speech classes, and for years have been preparing young people for the University of Theatre and Film Arts.

My Professional Journey

and My Story

Since 2013, dedicated to drama education and theatre pedagogy.

The Beginnings and the Theatre

I earned my acting degree in Kaposvár and was a member of the Csiky Gergely Theatre ensemble there for two years. Afterwards, I moved to Budapest and took part in founding the KOMA ensemble.

The Transition: From Actor to Teacher

After the birth of my children, in 2013, I returned to working in drama—not as an actor, but as a drama and theatre teacher and leader of drama groups. I initially worked with children, and later expanded to sessions for high school students and adults.

Current Activities

Today, I lead classes for four age groups and prepare annual performances with two student theatre groups. In the summer, I organize camps, teach drama and theatre courses at several high schools, and offer preparation for those interested in pursuing a career in acting.

My Philosophy

Play in drama liberates and brings joy.

How We Can Help ?

Drama helps both anxious children and those eager to perform, as well as adults, to develop their creativity. It supports better self-understanding and community building; it greatly enhances concentration, communication skills, and the freedom of a childlike spirit and imagination.

Mission and Values

The games and exercises I have been using for years help with communication, self-expression, personal development, and self-awareness. They relieve anxiety and frustration, build community, foster teamwork, and encourage collaborative thinking.

Success Stories

In the early years, I held one-week summer drama camps, but due to overwhelming demand, we soon had to extend them to 2–3 weeks, and there was even a summer when I ran four camps.

The success of the drama workshops is reflected in the fact that our play with my high school group attracted over a thousand audience members in 2025. We have also completed several successful amateur student performances.

Key Milestones

“It’s hard to define exact milestones. I would rather say that the opening up of reserved young people, the successful entrance exams of nervous applicants to acting schools, and the joyful expressions of parents seeing their children on stage in ways they had never seen before—all of these count as meaningful milestones.”

Our Pride: Several young people from my groups and preparations have already been admitted to the University of Theatre and Film Arts, and many of them are now successful and employed actors in Hungary.

What Makes This Workshop Different?

Relaxed and supportive environment

Future Goals

Continuing the activities I’ve started and reaching as many young people as possible who can benefit from drama.
